1 week old!

The puppies are 1 week old today!  They are growing fast and all are doing well!
Momma Macy came outside with us yesterday for a little bit.  She hasn't left her pups for more than a few minutes to go to the bathroom since they have been born.  She is such a great mommy!

My new puppy picture box, our trip to the vet and snuggle time!

The pups won't all fit in this box very long but I couldn't resist!
I will update pics with this box weekly as they grow.

Ever wonder how old your dog is in human years?  It's not as easy as 7 years per dog year.

Above and below: Calisee and a basket of puppies waiting for Dr. Shawn!
Dr. Shawn listened to their hearts, checked legs, their skulls, inside their mouths and removed their dewclaws.  All 4 pups look super healthy!
Below: We got a copy of Macy's x-ray from Sunday.
If she had any puppies we would have seen groups of little bones.
The boys REALLY wanted to see this!

Below: The pups are happy to be back with Momma, everyone needed a bite to eat!

Puppies are here!

Woo hoo!  We have 4 healthy puppies and a healthy momma.  I heard squeaking at 2am on Sunday morning over the monitor and jumped out of bed and ran down stairs to find 2 puppies already cleaned off.  I took Macy into the garage to her whelping pool and she had two more.  After 4 hours of waiting and watching Macy I decided I needed to take her to the vet to make sure she was done.  I called my mom and woke her up and she headed in with me, Macy and the pups.  We met the vet and he thought she looked like she had more, as did my mom and I.  The vet took an x-ray and NO more puppies.  I really expected to have more than 4 puppies but I am so thankful that Macy didn't have to have any extra help, especially a c-section.  I feel like I prepped for a marathon and it turned out to be a little sprint! Better safe than sorry though :)  Our last litter was 9 puppies and we had one a couple years ago with 12, the pool looks empty with only 4 puppies.  At least these 4 will have PLENTY to eat!

We have 2 females and 2 males, here are some pics!

The darkest pup is a female

WE ARE EXPECTING!! ANY DAY NOW!!!

Momma Macy is due tomorrow!
Her temperature is dropping but not at a low yet, a sign that labor should begin in 24 hrs or less.
We are super excited!

The garage is set up: we have towels, calcium (to help with contractions), chicken broth (because she likes it and drinks more water), hamburger, rice, cottage cheese (protein and calcium), baby monitor, cleaning supplies, chairs, heat lamps, heaters, birthing pool and of course the camera all ready!

Below:  I haven't let Macy out of my sight today, although she is acting totally normal.  As I was cleaning and prepping in the garage she took a snooze in the warm sun!

I will update the blog as soon as Macy has her pups (and we both get some rest)!

As I continue to "nest" I decided I needed to update the blog with the most recent pictures I have received of our last litter and some of our dogs that I haven't posted.

Calisse (our daughter) is now 22 months old and talking up a storm!
She calls our the dogs the following
Macy: Mace
Nikki: Ninn
Ginny: G
Drake: D

Below are some pics from our family:

Our human kiddos are growing!  Below is my favorite most recent one of all 3!

(With a new litter coming I will do a post introducing my family (coming soon) to our new forever home families. I will post pictures of my kids and my family along with our dogs and puppies)
